Kenneth J, a native New Yorker who now resides in Atlanta, Ga., is
a premier Heartprints songwriter and author whose recent debut of his first book capsulate some of
his most endearing memoirs in the form of poetry.
Kenneth J has the innate gift of
painting pictures with words. He is a poet and songwriter in the truest
sense of those words, comparable to the legendary Smokey Robinson. Writing
songs’ that employ visionary schematics, one can visualize everything that
takes place in the heart of Kenneth J. His sensitivity allows him to work
autobiographically. The ease with which he composes is reflected in his songs’
lack of self consciousness, the fact that, while his lyrics do touch the very
core of the soul, Kenneth J’s great gift remains simple sincerity. He has a
peculiar genius for using similes and metaphors to express the sentiments that
most people have a hard time conveying. Through his music he is a spokesman
for many. As with the song, “The
Ride” one can’t tell if he is speaking about a car or the intimacy
shared between a man and woman. It’s raw and filled w/innuendo’s that ooze
sensuality and eroticism. Brilliantly done and radio friendly. “B.M.W.”, an
acronym for black man working, is a song in honor of all the single,
independent, successful women who find themselves alone in search of a B.M.W.
to cruise down Love’s Boulevard to Passion Avenue. Lastly the song, “If I Was….” explores
the notion of being body parts (i.e. eyes, lips, arms, heart) and what he would
do if he was any particular body part of hers.
He is a force to be reckoned with
in the coming years because he is a songwriter whose creative spirit captures
the essence of heart. Kenneth J says it best when he says, “All that I am doing
is an expression of self. You have to do what you do the very best that you can
do it and not worry about what people think. I become one with everything by
becoming one with myself and by doing that I make the ordinary
extraordinary—which is only being creative.”
